Prez Poudel and PM Dahal extend New Year wishes

Kathmandu: President Ram Chandra Poudel and prime minister Puspa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ have extended the message of best wishes on the occasion of New Year 2080 to all Nepalis.

Poudel has wished peace, prosperity and happiness to all Nepalis at home and abroad on the occasion of New Year 2080. ‘I wish peace, prosperity and happiness to all Nepalis at home and abroad on this occasion’, he said in his new year message.

On the occasion, president Poudel has stressed the need of commitment from all Nepalis to building a strong and prosperous Nepal. He also expressed his commitment to federal republican system.

The head of the state also believed that country could be led to socialism with the establishment of peace, development and prosperity, and by upholding democratic values, constitutional provisions. Accountability, transparency and good governance are the pillars of democracy, he emphasized.

He also shed light on the pressing issues of the day, including economic improvement, climate change and its effect, and need of upgrading country to the status of developing country.

Likewise, prime minister Dahal has extended his best wishes to all Nepali living abroad and at home, hoping the New Year 2080 will bring new socio-economic changes in the country.

‘The new year will not only change the annual calendar, but also bring new socio-economic changes in the country’s life,’ PM Dahal said in his new year greetings and wishes. He also stressed that it is the time to win over despair through self-evaluation of the past and new resolve.

Dahal also highlighted the role of consensus and cooperation in eliminating various socio-political challenges of the country, committing himself to instill hope, belief and courage to realize the national potentials.

‘We have many experiences of eliminating several challenges through consensus and cooperation to create the culture of collectivity,’, Dahal said, ‘I would like to appeal to all to mark new year as the year of laying the foundation of prosperous Nepal through consensus and cooperation.’
