Kathmandu: Gunde Lake is one of the nine lakes located in Pokhara. It lies in Lekhnath, Ward No. 26 of Pokhara Metropolitan City, and covers an area of 4.98 hectares.
The lake is called Gunde because a plant named Gund, used for weaving mats (gundri), is found in the area. However, due to a lack of conservation efforts, both the Gund plant and the lake itself are under threat.

Locals say that since the area around the lake is grassy, it is suitable for developing as a bird habitat.
Birds from the Terai region visit the lake during the summer to escape the heat, while birds from the Himalayan region migrate here in winter to avoid the cold. However, due to poor conservation, the number of birds visiting the lake has started to decline.
