Kathmandu: Janakpurdham is one of the historical, religious, and cultural cities, located in Dhanusha district of Madhesh Province.

People believe Janakpurdham to be the centre of the ancient  Mithilia Kingdom, and it is considered a sacred pilgrimage site for Hindu devotees.

Likewise,  it is also famously known as the location of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita’s wedding. It is also known as the birthplace of Goddess Sita. Mithila King Janak used to rule Janakpur, who organised the Dhanush Yagya.

Lord Ram married Sita by breaking the divine bow of Lord Shiva during Dhanush Yagya. The Dhanush Yagya is also performed on the third day of the Bibaha Panchami.
