Kathmandu: Dozens of people have been injured after Iranian missiles struck Soroka hospital in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba.
The BBC cited Israel’s emergency service, Magen David Adom (MDA), as saying paramedics in Israel are treating around 32 people for injuries after Iran’s latest round of strikes.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry said the hospital is believed to have taken a direct hit.
An Israeli military official, three other sites in civilian areas have also been struck in Iran’s latest barrage. Emergency services say they’re on their way to the reported strike locations.
The MDA said two people, a man (80 years old) and a woman (70), are being taken to the hospital in a serious condition, while another 30 people have mild injuries, mostly from blasts and shrapnel.
BBC’s US partner CBS reports the strikes come as Donald Trump has approved plans to attack Iran, but has not made a final decision on whether to strike the country.
Explosions have also been heard in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Israel warned people to evacuate from the Arak heavy water reactor areas.
As per the CBS report, sirens were sounded in Israel overnight, and people were urged to evacuate and cover themselves.
Earlier, upon queries about the US joining Israeli strikes on Iran, President Trump neither denied nor accepted joining the attack. He said, ‘I may do it, I may not do it. ‘
On Wednesday, Iran’s supreme leader warned President Trump of “irreparable harm” if the US intervenes.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military has confirmed it has attacked the nuclear reactor in Arak, saying it is “inactive”.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) says the reactor is designed to produce high-yield plutonium, which is a material used to make nuclear weapons.
