Nepal defeats Netherlands by 16 runs

Kathmandu: Nepal has defeated the Netherlands in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2.

In a thrilling match held on Tuesday at Fort Hill in Dundee, Nepal defeated the Netherlands by 16 runs. With this victory, Nepal has won 3 out of 4 games in the fourth round of League 2.

Chasing a target of 237 runs, the Netherlands were all out for 220 in 49.2 overs. Wesley Barresi scored the highest for the Netherlands with 36 runs.

For Nepal, debutant Nandan Yadav and leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane each took 3 wickets. Lalit Rajbanshi took 2 wickets, while Kushal Bhurtel took 1. Karan KC claimed the final wicket, sealing the win for Nepal.

Earlier, after losing the toss and being invited to bat first, Nepal scored 236 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Arif Sheikh was Nepal’s top scorer with a half-century, scoring 84 runs. Bhim Sharki and Captain Rohit Paudel contributed 35 runs each.

For the Netherlands, Paul van Meekeren took the most wickets, claiming four.

However, due to Arif running twice into the danger zone during the match, the on-field umpires penalized Nepal with 10 penalty runs.

As a result, the Netherlands began their innings with 10 runs already added to their total.
