For the past eight years, a Sandhya Aarati (evening ritual) has been taking place on the last Monday of every month in the premises of the Gokarneshwar Temple.

Kathmandu: Gokarneshwor Mahadev Temple is located in the eastern part of Kathmandu.

The temple is a popular pilgrimage for Hindu devotees. Mentioned in the Himavat section of the Shiv Puran, the temple located in the triveni of Chandramati, Suryamati, and Bagmati is an abode of ancestral liberation.

According to the Himavat Khanda of the Shiva Purana, this sacred site, located at the confluence of the Chandramati, Suryamati, and Bagmati rivers, is a holy place for the liberation of ancestors (Pitri Moksha Dham). The area became a major religious destination for those who performed Pitri Shraddha (ancestral rites).
