Hiking Trail Clean Up Campaigns (Photos)

Kathmandu: On the occasion of World Environment Day, special cleanup campaigns, tree plantation, and adventure events have been carried out on two separate hiking trails from Budhanilkantha to Tarebhir.

The cleanup was conducted along two hiking routes: one from Taulung School to Tarebhir via Chihandanda and Narayandanda, and the other from Taulung School to Tarebhir via Wasik, Girija Prasad Koirala Park, and Narayandanda on Jestha 24 (June 7).

As part of the cleanup efforts, around 50 sacks of non-degradable waste, including plastic bottles, empty food wrappers, and glass bottles, were collected from both trails. Additionally, dustbins were installed along the paths to make the journey more convenient for hikers.

After the cleanup, 75 saplings—including fruit trees, Bodhichitta (Ziziphus budhensis), and Siris (Albizia lebbeck)—were planted at Narayandanda. The care and maintenance of these saplings will be handled by Ultimate Venue Pvt. Ltd., according to Army Major Aditya Karki, who is also a proprietor of the venue.

Following the plantation, participants engaged in adventure activities at the Ultimate Venue’s adventure zone, which included Combat Obstacles, High Ropes Obstacles, Natural Rock Climbing, and Abseiling.

The event was organized in support of Project Kasero 2.0, run by Nepal Scouts, Lalitpur. It saw participation from over 100 individuals, including personnel from Shree Chandan Nath Battalion of the Nepal Army, representatives from Wards 1, 2, and 3 of Budhanilkantha Municipality, Panchakanya Community Forest representatives, and Nepal Scouts Lalitpur.
