Nepali Congress: Home Minister Lekhak innocent in Visit Visa scandal

Kathmandu: The Nepali Congress (NC) has defended Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak in the visit visa scandal, stating that he is innocent.

In a meeting of the party office bearers, Home Minister Lekhak gave a briefing. Home Minister Lekhak said in the meeting that he had no shortcomings. ‘From what he said, we have concluded that the Home Minister is not involved in any way. He is innocent,’ said NC Spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat after the meeting.

Spokesperson Mahat stated that the Nepali Congress has concluded that rumors are being spread about the Home Minister. He further mentioned that the meeting decided that strict action should be taken against those who are guilty.

The meeting concluded that since the Home Minister is not under investigation, it cannot be said that he is guilty. ‘The official investigative body has not implicated the Home Minister. Therefore, he cannot be dragged into this,’ said Spokesperson Mahat.

Mahat also mentioned that the Home Minister will answer questions in Parliament regarding this issue. Last Wednesday, Immigration Department Deputy Secretary Tirtharaj Bhattarai was arrested.

The involvement of the Home Minister’s secretariat has also come to light in this case. Names from the Home Minister’s secretariat, including Janak Bhatt and Ganesh Ojha, have been linked. Similarly, Immigration Officer Bimal Paudel, who was previously linked to human trafficking under the guise of visit visas, is also in Lekhak’s secretariat.
