East-West Highway in Nawalparasi remains blocked; stranded passengers

Kathmandu: The East-West Highway in Nawalparasi remains blocked after being damaged by floods that came with Friday night’s rain.

The District Police Office Nawalparasi informed Nepal Views that efforts to reopen the road were ongoing Saturday morning with the help of Chinese vehicles. The Daunne section of the road has been blocked since Friday night and has yet to reopen.

With the highway obstructed, vehicles are stuck in traffic jams, and passengers are stranded.

About three kilometers west of Bardaghat Bazaar, around seven meters of the road at the Khursani Khola area has collapsed, and the concrete pavement laid as part of road upgrades has also come off.
