Kathmandu: The preparations are underway to allow vehicle movement on the overpass at Gwarko, Lalitpur, by the end of the current Nepali month of Jestha.

The construction project, the work has reached its final stage. The construction company has stated that it plans to complete the project by Jestha 15 and hand it over to the government.

After the contract period for the overpass construction expired and an additional one-year extension still did not suffice to complete the work, the Department of Roads has been making the construction company carry out the work by imposing penalties since last Poush.

According to the contract, the initial deadline was Falgun 12, 2080 BS. It was later extended to Poush 8, 2081 BS. The contract for the two-year construction was signed with Ashish–Samanantar JV on Falgun 12, 2078 BS.

Once completed, vehicles traveling along the Kalanki–Koteshwor road section will use the overpass, while those heading toward Lamatar and Patan from Gwarko will use the road section beneath the overpass.

The construction of the overpass will facilitate safe, smooth, and organized vehicle movement along the Satdobato–Koteshwor section of the Ring Road, and the Mangalbazar–Imadol–Lubhu road section.
