HoR meeting: Deliberation on principles, priorities of Appropriation Bill continues

Kathmandu: Deliberation on principles and priorities of the Appropriation Bill for the coming fiscal year 2025/26 is underway in a meeting of the House of Representatives.

On the occasion, Nepali Congress Vice-President Dhan Raj Gurung said the state should focus its investment in capital formation, as distribution without production could not lead to socialism. He stressed the need for effective implementation of socialism, making balance between production and distribution, adding that crony capitalism has ruined country’s economy.

Leader Gurung pointed out the need for drastic transformation in the education sector, saying it was necessary to establish a large number of boarding schools in the country. He argued that the existing health institutions should be made well-equipped for the reforms in the health sector.

The NC Vice-President suggested that the budget for coming fiscal year should focus on investment for religious and adventurous tourism as well as production, processing and market of herbs.

Likewise, Ammar Bahadur Thapa mentioned that quality education and health service should be kept on priority and asked the government not to allow the situation for teachers to launch agitation time and again. Abdul Khan stressed the need of paying attention on women and children’s nutrition, to determined price of products and improvement in hospitals.

He expressed the view that the government should be serious on the issues that are directly concerned with people’s life. Deepak Karki commented that there is lack of willpower and honesty to get development goals determined by the government while Sarbendra Nath Shukla mentioned that foreign students could be attracted by improving education quality as well as quality education could stop students brain drain. Prem Suwal argued that good governance has not been established in the country due to growing corruption.
