Kathmandu: The National Assembly (NA) has passed the government’s policies and programs for the upcoming financial year by majority.
The NA Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal announced that the policies and programs had been passed by a majority in the Assembly. The amendment proposals brought up by the lawmakers on various points of the policies and programs document presented by the government in the Assembly were rejected by the majority.
Earlier, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli answered questions raised regarding the government’s policies and programs. During that, he stated that the policies and programs were presented to promote good governance and accelerate the pace of development.
‘The need to preserve and promote national interests while maintaining the country’s sovereignty, independence, and autonomy has been incorporated into the policies and programs,’ said PM Oli on the occasion.
He expressed concern over the misuse of social media to advance anarchy in society as a political act and emphasized the need to be aware of attacks on the system. PM Oli emphasized that one should be vigilant against elements that reject democracy and oppose the system in the name of advocating for the old system, causing damage to public and people’s property.
He expressed the commitment that the suggestions made during the discussion on the policies and programs would be included in the upcoming budget.
PM Oli also clarified that the constitution would be amended based on consensus of everyone’s feelings, education would be made accessible and useful for life, the current education system would be modernized and made scientific, and a strong and balanced neighborhood and international relations would be established.
Condolence proposal passed The NA meeting passed a condolence proposal on the death of former minister Pradeep Nepal. The proposal presented by the chairperson Dahal unanimously approved by the meeting. The National Assembly will next meet at 1.15 pm on May 13.
