Ukraine’s drone attack shuts Russia’s airport

Kathmandu: Russia has said Ukraine launched a drone attack targeting Moscow for the second night in a row.

The BBC cited Russia’s aviation watchdog Rosaviatsia on Telegram as saying that four major airports in the capital were shut down for several hours to ensure safety but later reopened.

Taking on social media, Moscow’s mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, said that around 19 Ukrainian drones were destroyed before they reached the city from different directions.

Mayor Sobyanin said some of the debris landed on one of the key highways into the city, but there were no casualties. However, Ukraine hasn’t responded to the strike, but the Mayor of Kharkiv said Russia also launched a drone strike in the city as well as the Kyiv area overnight.

Likewise, Ukraine’s Odesa region Governor, Oleh Kiper, said one person died in a drone strike.

Similarly, it was the second night in a row that Russia reported a drone attack by Ukraine on Monday, the Russian Defence Ministry said it destroyed 26 Ukrainian drones overnight.
