Under the National Vitamin A Program, Vitamin A is being given to children aged 6 to 59 months, and deworming tablets are being administered to children aged 1 to 5 years.

Through this program, approximately 2.2 million children across the country will receive Vitamin A. Similarly, the government aims to provide deworming medicine to around 1.9 million children aged 1 to 5 years.

Around 52,000 female community health volunteers and 15,000 health workers are being mobilized for the National Vitamin A Program.

To prevent and treat Vitamin A deficiency, the National Vitamin A Program was launched in 8 districts in the year 2050 B.S. (1993 A.D.) and was expanded nationwide in 2059 B.S. (2002 A.D.).

Similarly, the deworming program began in 13 districts in 2056 B.S. (1999 A.D.) and was implemented across all districts by 2067 B.S. (2010 A.D.). Every year, in the months of Kartik and Baisakh, the government provides Vitamin A supplements and deworming medicine to children free of cost.
