NC President Deuba directs general secretaries to speak in favor of government

Kathmandu: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has directed the party’s two general secretaries to speak in favor of the government.

In a meeting held at his residence in Budhanilkantha on Thursday, Deuba instructed General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma to speak in favor of the government, who have been vocal critics of the government.

During the meeting, Chief Whip Shyam Kumar Ghimire questioned the stance of the general secretaries, stating that their criticism of the government had created confusion about whose side they were speaking for. ‘The general secretaries have been continuously criticizing the government. It has created confusion about which side we are actually on,’ he said.

Ghimire informed that immediately after he raised the question, Deuba instructed the general secretaries to speak in support of the government.

Quoting Deuba, Ghimire said, ‘Right now, there’s nothing to the left or right — we should be speaking in favor of the government. Any dissatisfaction should be kept within the party and internal mechanisms; publicly, we must speak in support of the government.’
