Demand for Climate Justice from Brazil (Photos)

Kathmandu: Climate activists, indigenous leaders and community representatives of 98 countries, including Nepal, have exhibited an art piece with a message ‘Brazil Lead The Just Energy Transition at COP 30.’

The art piece was exhibited in Brasilia. The 30-foot-long banner, created by the famous Brazilian artist Thiago Mundano, was made after collecting ashes from Amazon’s wildfires.

The letter was officially handed over to the COP 30 Chairperson. Requesting an immediate response, the letter was handed over to the Chairperson on the occasion of the ‘Free Land Camp’ held in Brazil.

98 countries, including Nepal, and more than 180 organizations signed the letter. It demands an end to fossil fuel, a just energy transition, and to ensure the central role of indigenous leadership.

Currently, they are part of the “Renew our Strength” program. The International Climate Organisation 350 is the organizer of the program.

Likewise, more than 70 countries and more than 200 climate activists have participated in the program. The participants aim to empower community-based renewable energy projects, which is a key step towards COP 30.
