Kathmandu: Chairperson of the main opposition party CPN (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, has said if necessary, a special session of the parliament will be called to pass the School Education Bill.

Speaking at a training session organized by the Newa Mukti Morcha in the capital on Sunday, Chairperson Dahal said that his party stands with the teachers. He appealed to the teachers not to give up their protest until their demands were met.

Addressing the protesting teachers, Prachanda said, ‘Don’t give up until your demands are fulfilled. Sometimes blow whistles, do whatever you need to— we are with you.’

Since Chaitra 20 (April 2), teachers from community schools have been staging protests in Kathmandu at the call of the Nepal Teachers’ Federation. They have been demanding the prompt enactment of the School Education Act.
