KMC sends penalty notice to Nirmal Niwas via GPO

Kathmandu: A team from Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has sent a penalty notice to former King Gyanendra Shah via the General Post Office (GPO).

A team of the KMC reached Nirmal Niwas to deliver the notice on Sunday morning. However, the team returned after there was a refusal to accept the notice. Then, KMC chose GPO to send the notice.

KMC imposed a fine of 793 thousand rupees (7 lakh 93 thousand rupees) on former King Gyanendra Shah under various charges on Saturday.

The fine was imposed because the pro-monarchist movement, who protested in Tinkune, caused environmental pollution, among other violations.

KMC said the fine was issued as the protest was allegedly held under Gyanendra’s direction, leading to damage to public property and waste accumulation within the metropolis’s jurisdiction.
