Kathmandu: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has said autocracy can not be an alternative to democracy at all.

He said that Nepali society has been accustomed to democratic values, so sliding back to autocracy is unacceptable. Minister Lekhak, who is also a Nepali Congress leader, was speaking at an interaction organized by his party’s constituency-3 working committee in Rupandehi.

Minister Lekhak said, ‘Nepal can not backtrack, Nepali people believe in democracy. So, they frustrate the anti-democratic initiatives.’

He said Nepal is moving forward with a democratic system. He, however, admitted weaknesses in present delivery. Minister Lekhak said the people’s plight can not be taken advantage of for disrupting the system.
