FSU election: Fierce competition between student wings of 3 major political parties

Kathmandu: The results of the Free Students’ Union (FSU) elections at Tribhuvan University (TU) have been unveiled.

The student wings of Nepal’s three major political parties; Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), and CPN (Maoist Center), showed high competition in the FSU election. So far, these three student organizations have each secured victories on two campuses.

Candidates from the ANNFSU, the student wing of the CPN (UML), won at Nepal Commerce Campus, Minbhawan, and Mahendra Ratna Campus, Tahachal.

According to ANNFSU Vice President Narayan Gharti, Bishal Rokaha was elected as the president of the Nepal Commerce Campus, while Ishwar Thapa won the presidency at the Mahendra Ratna Campus.

Similarly, candidates from the Nepali Congress-affiliated Nepal Students’ Union (NSU) secured victories at Thapathali Engineering Campus and Maharajgunj Nursing Campus. According to NSU spokesperson Suraj Sejuwal, Pralhad Khadka was elected president at Thapathali, while Bindu Pokharel won at Maharajgunj.

Meanwhile, ANNFSU (Revolutionary), the student wing of the CPN (Maoist Center), wins at the Public Administration Campus and Sanothimi Multiple Campus, Bhaktapur.

According to Revolutionary General Secretary Roshan Magar, Aniket Tiwari was elected president at the Public Administration Campus, while Narendra Thagunna won at the Sanothimi Campus.

At Pulchowk Engineering Campus, independent candidate Swayam Shrestha was elected president.

The elections, held on Tuesday, took place in 38 constituent campuses and 250 affiliated campuses across the country.
