FSU election: Postponed in many colleges of Kathmandu; Voting begins in few (Photo Feature)

Kathmandu: The election of the Free Student Union (FSU) has kicked off in the Tribhuvan University campuses across the country.

The TU-affiliated and constituent campuses are holding the FSU elections to elect new leadership of various student organizations. But, the maximum TU-affiliated colleges in Kathmandu have also faced padlocks and the elections have been postponed.

Tri-Chandra, Ratna Rajya (RR), Nepal Law Campus, Bishwo Bhasha, Valmiki, Amrit Campus (ASCOL), Saraswati, Shankardev, Public Youth, Baneshwor, and Koteshwor, among other campuses, have been postponed due to various conflicts.

Howerver, in a few colleges; the Nepal Commerce Campus, Thapathali, and Pulchowk Engineering Campus, the voting has begun. The FSU elections, at the Central department in Kiritpur and Padmakanya in Bagbazaar, will be held on Chaitra 8.

According to Pashupati Adhikari, member secretary of FSU central monitoring and coordination committee, voting began at 8:00 am in 250 campuses affiliated with TU and 46 constituent ones.

The voting began on most of the campuses and will continue till 4:00 pm. The election committee formed on the campuses is scheduled to begin the vote count after the completion of the voting.

The FSUs affiliated with various political parties are participating in the election, fielding their candidacies. Although the TU holds the FSU election every two years, it has not been conducted regularly since 2065BS.

The FSU election was begun since 2018BS. It used to be held annually till 2030BS.
