Fire in Syuchatar; Damage worth 1.5 million rupees

Kathmandu: A fire, which broke out on Saturday night in a makeshift house in Syuchatar, Nagarjun Municipality-7, Kathmandu.

According to Superintendent of Police Apil Bohara, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Kathmandu, the fire started at 9:40 PM in a single-story temporary shelter (a tin-roofed hut) belonging to resident Krishna Hari Shrestha and was brought under control by 10:50 PM.

SP Bohara said the arrow area made it difficult for large fire engines to enter, initially making it challenging to extinguish the fire.

‘However, with the help of small fire engines from Chandragiri Municipality and Lalitpur Metropolitan City, security personnel and residents managed to put out the fire. Although four additional fire engines from different areas arrived, they could not reach the site due to the narrow roads,’ said SP Bohora.

The fire is estimated to have caused damages worth approximately 1.5 million rupees. A team led by Rupak Khadka, chief of the Kalimati Police Circle, was deployed to extinguish the fire, with additional police personnel from the Swayambhu Circle also mobilized.

The fire destroyed food supplies, wooden furniture, clothing, household items, utensils, and iron materials. Police suspect that an electrical short circuit caused the fire.
