Baglung section of Mid-hills Highway blocked due to snow

Kathmandu: The Baglung section of the Mid-hills Highway has been blocked due to snowfall and rainfall since Friday morning.

The Nishikhola- East Rukum section of the highway in Baglung district has been obstructed due to the deposition of snow on the road. One and a half feet of snow has accumulated at Patihalne in Nishikhola rural municipality-6.

Rural municipality chairperson Surya Bahadur Ghartimagar said vehicles operating on the highway to and from East Rukum, West Rukum, Jajarkot, Dolpa and other places have been halted due to the obstruction of the road.

‘It had been raining since the morning and now it is snowing. So, there is no condition to resume the vehicular traffic on the road at present. The road would be cleared of snow by using a dumper and traffic resumed if it stops snowing’ said Chairperson Magar.’

According to Ghartimagar, the rural municipality chairperson, the night buses coming from Kathmandu plied on the road section in the morning, the long and short route vehicles were not allowed to operate at present due to the deposition of snow on the road.

Snowfall since the morning today has also affected normal life of the people in the upper region of Dhorpatan.
