Sadhus in Pashupatinath Temple for Maha Shivaratri (Photo Feature)

Kathmandu: Sadhus (saints) from the Pashupati area, India, and various places in Nepal have started to gather to mark the Maha Shivaratri.

Every year on Shivaratri, saints visit Pashupatinath temple to pay homage to Lord Shiva.

However, this year, there has been a slight decrease in the number of saints visiting Pashupatinath compared to previous years.

The ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, India, seems to be the reason behind the decrease in the number of saints this year.

Places, such as the Ram Mandir complex and other areas have been arranged for the saints. For the naga babas (ascetic sadhus), space has been designated inside the Pashupatinath temple.

The Pashupati Area Development Trust has estimated that around 500,000 devotees will visit the Pashupatinath temple this year.
