Kathmandu: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has asserted that there was no alternative to democracy.

In the first convention of Sudurpaschim Law Society organized in Kathmandu today, Home Minister Lekhak reiterated democracy has no alternative but improved democracy.

The constitution has fully ensured democracy, he reminded. Seeking an alternative to it is pushing the country into crisis, he argued, adding that all should be united to safeguard the constitution.

The Home Minister stressed safeguarding democracy, protecting the constitution, and strengthening inclusion is the need of the hour. He stated that preparation was underway to amend the constitution by analyzing strong and weak aspects of the national charter experienced in the course of its practice in the last 10 years.

Saying legal and policy-level reforms are priorities of the government, he stated that he was active in the appropriate representation of Sudurpaschim in all state bodies.
