Nepal Police’s 2 senior officers in KIIT to ensure safety of Nepali students

Kathmandu: Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has said she is continuously following up on the case of Nepali student Prakriti Lamsal, who was found dead in the hostel of Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha.

Minister Dr. Rana said the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi is working to understand the situation of Nepali students. Additionally, Nepal Police’s two senior officers reached KIIT, early in the morning, to ensure the security of Nepali students.

Prakriti’s Father: No one else should face such a situation

Taking to her social media X on Tuesday, the Foreign Minister said, ‘To understand the situation of Nepali students and ensure a safe environment for Nepali students at the college, two senior officers from the Nepal Police reached the university this morning from the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi. I spoke to them on the phone and directed them to coordinate with Indian security personnel for the necessary investigation and with the university administration to ensure the safety and security of Nepali students in the hostel.’

Minister Dr. Rana said the Foreign Ministry and the Nepali Embassy are working in coordination with the university administration and Indian security officials to ensure necessary cooperation and support.

Earlier, KIIT; issuing a statement, announced the suspension of two senior hostel staff members and one International Relations Officer.
