After Mayor Das threatens to shoot Administrative Officer in front of police…

Janakpurdham: An incident has come to light where Bechan Das, the mayor of Bideha Municipality in Dhanusha, allegedly threatened to shoot administrative officer Dipendra Kumar Sah in front of the police.

The dispute arose after Sah allowed Pawan Kumari, a lower secondary school teacher; appointed through the Teachers Service Commission’s recommendation, to officially assume her duties.

Following this, Mayor Das’s son, Rambhajan Das, reportedly entered Sah’s office, verbally abused him, and physically assaulted him. Sah further claimed that even after this incident, Mayor Das threatened to shoot him.

On Monday, after allowing the teacher to report for duty, Sah filed a complaint at the District Police Office when Rambhajan Das verbally abused and assaulted him inside his office. The next day (Tuesday), Mayor Das allegedly summoned Sah to his office, used abusive language, and threatened to shoot him.

Following the incident, police officers Bikash Basnet and Bikash Kumar Rai, along with Ward No. 7 chairman Rajkishor Singh, arrived at the scene.

However, even in the presence of police and local representatives, Mayor Das reportedly issued a death threat.

‘When the office itself became unsafe, Mayor Das threatened to shoot me right in front of the police deployed from the District Police Office, Dhanusha,’ Sah said,’ After being assaulted, I sought legal action, but the mayor responded with a death threat.’

Sah stated that after the threat, he requested security from the district police and administration. He also informed the police chief of Dhanusha about the incident.

Sah had assumed his duties at Bideha Municipality on Magh 2 (mid-January) and claimed that he had been facing intimidation, verbal abuse, and threats since then.

Following this incident, Sah demanded immediate arrest and legal action against Mayor Bechan Das for issuing a death threat and against his son Rambhajan Das for physical assault.

Additionally, he has requested the concerned authorities to ensure his safety and provide full security until a new workplace arrangement is made.
