New Delhi elections: Arvind Kejriwal faces defeat

Kathmandu: Former New Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has lost the New Delhi Assembly seat.

According to the Times of India, Kejriwal lost the elections to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Pravesh Verma by more than 3000 seats.

Not only Kejriwal but also many successful leaders of the Aam Admi Party faced defeats. Only, Chief Minister Swati Maliwal didn’t face defeat.

On the one hand, Kejriwal and AAP faced a huge defeat. On the other hand, the BJP has stormed back into power in Delhi after 27 years.

Kejriwal’s party Aam Aadmi Pary (AAP) had two historic victories in New Delhi in 2015 and 2020.

The official announcement of the election results is underway. There are 70 seats in the Delhi Assembly. And a party requires at least 36 seats to form the government.
