Kathmandu: The Shree Panchami festival is celebrated nationwide by worshipping the Goddess of Knowledge ‘Saraswati’.

The festival, which is celebrated on Magh Shukla Panchami, is also known as Basanta Panchami. Students worship books and pens as the symbol of Goddess Saraswati.

There is a practice of teaching children to write letters, who are about to begin their schooling, on Saraswati Puja. In recent times, even old people have started to start writing letters on this day.

Goddess Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge, art, and wisdom. That’s why, students, teachers, artists, and musicians, worship and take blessing from Goddess Saraswati.

Shree Panchami also symbolizes the beginning of the Spring season. People believe that the chilliness starts to decrease from this day.

People celebrate Shree Panchami by visiting the Temple of Goddess Saraswati across the nation.
