Kathmandu: The Tamang community is celebrating the Sonam Lhosar festival, with great fanfare.
Sonam Lhosar is observed as the New Year of the Tamang community. The day is celebrated on the first day of the waxing moon in the month of Magh every year.
During this festival, the Tamang community worships their ancestors, and nature, and commemorates the teachings of Lord Buddha. People also have gatherings and celebrate the day with their relatives and exchange greetings with each other.
In Kathmandu’s Tundikhel, the festival has been celebrated with a formal program.
