Kathmandu: An art exhibition titled ‘Feminist Future: Art, Activism and South Asian Womanhood’ is going on.

The exhibition, which began on Saturday, comprises South Asian women artists. Dr Arshia Lokhandwala, the exhibition’s creator, said the exhibition highlights the complex aspects of feminism, art, and activism in South Asia.

The exhibition features the work of 10 women artists from South Asia. The exhibition features four artists from India, three from Nepal, and one each from Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

Nepali artists Ashmina Ranjit, Vidhata KC, and Uma Bista, Indian artists Anita Dubey, Mithu Sen, Sheba Chhachchi, and Pushpamala, along with Sri Lankan Anoli Perera, Pakistan’s Naija Khan, and Bangladesh’s Tayba Begum Lipi have showcased their creations in the exhibition.

All the contributors have contributed photographs depicting the struggle of females and the feminist movement for the exhibition. Ashmina Ranjit’s ‘Sita: the Ideal Wife 2025’ was staged on the first day of the exhibition. The exhibition comprises all the feminist movements and women’s rights on national and international platforms.

Likewise, the exhibition reflects the patriarchal structure, traditional thinking, and gender politics, showing feminism, art, and activism in South Asia and so on.

Taragaun Next organized the exhibition in collaboration with Saraf Foundation, the exhibition will be held for three months at the Taragaun Cultural Center in Boudha, Kathmandu. Entry to the exhibition is priced at Rs 200 for students, while other visitors will have to pay Rs 300.
