Over 8,000 racers compete in 4th series of ‘Right to Protein’ run

Kathmandu: The fourth series of the ‘Right to Protein’ run has concluded.

The event was organized by the Nepal Veterinary Association. Out of eight different categories under the championship, Santoshi Shrestha and Rajan Rokaya won the title of Open Half-Marathon.

Similarly, Sanjay Shrestha stood first in the 10 km (open) under the men’s category, while Phoolmati Rana in the 5-km race (open) under the women’s category, Lokendra Bohara in 5 km under the men’s category for students up to grade 12 and Asmita Bhujel towards three-km under women category for students up to grade 12.

The coordinator of the organizing committee, Dr. Sheetal Kaji Shrestha, said Aishwarya Kumari Kumal and Ramesh Khatri won the title of wheelchair race for differently able persons towards women and men categories respectively.

Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ram Nath Adhikari, Member-Secretary of National Sports Council, Tanka Lal Ghising, among others, presented cash prizes, certificates, and medals to the 40 winners of eight different categories.

The winner of the half-marathon under the men and women category received Rs 150,000 each while the first runner-up athlete got Rs 100,000 and the second runner-up Rs 70,000.

Similarly, the title winner of the 10-km race received Rs 50,000, first runner-up Rs 40,000, and second runner-up Rs 30,000. Under the championship, the winner, first runner-up, and second runner-up athletes in the three-kilometer race got Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000, and Rs 15,000 respectively.

Likewise, the racers securing first position in the wheelchair race received Rs 30,000, first runner-up runner Rs 20,000, and second runner-up athlete Rs 15,000 respectively. Around 8,000 runners had participated in the marathon, according to the organizer.
