Kathmandu: The Tharu community has been celebrating Maghe Sankranti with great fanfare.

There is a tradition of celebrating Maghe Sankranti by taking a bath in the early morning, donating, and eating.

The New Year of Tharu communities i.e. Maghe Sankranti is celebrated on the day the sun enters the north on January 14 (Magh 1). This festival is celebrated with different names in different places.

People in the Terai region celebrate this festival for 5 days, starting from today.

Likewise, the Tharu communities are also celebrating the festival in different places in Kathmandu. Various programs are also organized in Tunidkhel.
