23rd White Water Challenge: Rafting Star Resort bags title of Kayak

Sindhupalchowk: Rafting Star Resort has won the title of the Kayak races in the “23rd Himalayan White Water Challenge.”

Rafting Star’s Ashok Chaudhary won the ‘Slalom race’ by gaining 400 points, which was held on the Brahmayani (Balefi) river at Balephi.

Rafting Star’s Krishna Khadka won in the ‘Down Stream Kayak Race’ by gaining 300 points, held on Sunkoshi (Upper Bhotekoshi river).

Krishna Khadka bagged the first position with a total points of 628. Ashok Chaudhary achieved 2nd position with 625 points. And Vijaya Majhi came third with 620 points. A total of 18 kayakers were in the Slalom and Down Stream Kayak Race.

Along with certificates and medals, the winner, first runner-up, and second runner-up in both categories received cash prizes of 15000 rupees, 10,000 rupees, and 5000 rupees respectively.

Similarly, on Sunday, under the Team Event Race ‘White River Raft Race’, Bhotekoshi Adventure Club secured the first position, Nepal River Runner became second, and Rafting Star third.

A total of 12 rafts participated in the race. Each comprises 5 members: 4 players (in the raft) and 1 additional.

The winner completed the 15 km downriver race in 29.57 minutes. The first runner-up completed the distance in 30.25  minutes. The second runner-up completed the distance in 30.51 minutes.

They were bagged 30 thousand, 20 thousand, and 10 thousand rupees along with certificates and medals.

Bagmati Province Assembly Member and former Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Cooperatives  Dipendra Shrestha distributed the prize to the winners of the competition in the closing ceremony of the program on Sunday.

The Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies (NARA) organized the competition as part of the “23rd Himalayan White Water Challenge.”
