Plane crash in South Korea’s Airport; 62 people Killed

Kathmandu: At least 62 people have been killed in a plane crash in South Korea.

The BBC cited the country’s fire service as saying the plane carrying 181 passengers crashed at Muan International Airport in South Korea. According to the National Fire Agency, the 62 people killed included 37 women and 25 men.

The cause of the crash is still not known, but local media reported it may have been caused by birds getting caught in the plane’s systems.

The Yonhap news agency reported that the aircraft came off the runway and crashed into a wall at the Airport, located in the southwest of the country.

The Jeju Airplane consisted of 175 passengers and six crew members. There were 173 South Koreans and two Thai passengers. It was returning from Bangkok and crashed when during the landing.

A fire official told the Reuters news agency that two people have been found alive so far and rescue operations were still underway. Emergency services were attempting to rescue people in the tail section of the aircraft as per an airport official.
