Rabi Lamichhane’s statement recording underway

Kathmandu: The statements of the accused in the embezzlement case of savings from Surya Darshan Cooperative, located in Pokhara, Kaski, will continue today.

The statement of Rabi Lamichhane, president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), among others, will be recorded in the Kaski District Court on Tuesday.

According to court sources, the statement of Chhabilal Joshi was taken, and today, the statements of Lamichhane and others are scheduled to be recorded on Monday,

On Monday, the defendants, including Lamichhane, Joshi, Leela Pachaee, Krishna Bahadur Gurung, and Ram Bahadur Khanal, were presented in court. Court Information Officer Suraj Adhikari said that only Joshi’s statement was recorded.

Lamichhane’s case is being heard in the bench of District Judge Nitiz Rai. After the statements are completed, a detention hearing will be conducted.

A case has been filed against former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Lamichhane for money laundering, claiming damages of  278.94 million rupees.

Similarly, a case has been filed against former DIG Chhabilal Joshi under money laundering charges, claiming damages of over 743.47 million rupees. Assistant District Attorney Sharma informed that claims of 143.09 million rupees against Khanal and 246.70 million rupees against Pachaee have also been made.

Under cooperative fraud, 33.76 million rupees have been claimed against Lamichhane, 52.66 million rupees against Joshi, and 21.41 million rupees against Dipesh Pun. The Office of the Government Attorney stated that cases have been filed against other individuals accused of cooperative fraud, seeking appropriate compensation and penalties.
