Preparation to file case against Rabi Lamichhane in court

Kathmandu: A case against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairperson  Rabi Lamichhane, who was arrested on charges of misappropriating funds of a government institution, will be filed at the Kaski District Court.

The Kaski District Government Attorney’s Office is preparing to file the case against him today (Sunday). Earlier, on Friday, a case was filed against 19 individuals implicated in the Surya Darshan Cooperative fraud case in Pokhara.

On Friday, the District Government Attorney’s Office filed cases against 19 individuals, excluding former Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Lamichhane and former DIG of Nepal Police Chhabilal Joshi.

Assistant District Attorney Shantidevi Sharma previously informed that cases were filed only against the 19 individuals involved in the supplementary complaints related to the cooperative fraud.

It has been reported that cases against Lamichhane and Joshi could not be filed on Friday as investigations regarding charges of organized crime and money laundering against them were still ongoing.

Police submit Rabi Lamichhane’s investigation report to District Attorney Office

The police have already submitted a report to the District Government Attorney, claiming that Lamichhane, Joshi, and others committed organized crime by transferring cooperative funds to Gorkha Media.

Joshi was arrested on September 22 (Asoj 6), and the 89-day statute of limitations for filing the case has now expired.

Since the final day fell on a public holiday, today, the next working day, has been considered the last date to file the case against them.

On February 5 (Magh 22), the victims of the Surya Darshan Cooperative lodged complaints against Lamichhane and other directors and managing directors of various companies.

Based on these complaints, supplementary charges are now being filed in court against Lamichhane and others.
