Janakpur Bolts defeat Sudurpaschim Royals to clinche NPL’s title

Kathmandu: Janakpur Bolts have clinched the title of Nepal Premiere League (NPL).

Janakpur defeated Sudurpaschim Royals by 5 wickets at T.U. International Cricket Ground on Saturday. After the defeat, Sudurpaschim Royals became the first runner-up of the tournament.

Janakpur Bolts chased the target of 185 runs in an over with a loss of wickets. Lahiru Milantha scored 87 runs for the victory of the Janakpur Bolts. Milantha smashed 9 boundaries and 4 sixes out of 49 balls.

Captain Aasif Sheikh scored 33 for the team. Harsh Thaker was unbeaten at 30 runs.

Scott Kuggeleijn, Dipendra Singh Airee, Saif Zaib, and Ishan Pandey took 1 wicket each for Sudurpachim Royals.

In the first innings, Sudurpaschim won the toss and decided to bat first. Sudurpaschim scored 184 runs in 20 overs with a loss of 9 wickets.

Saif Zaib made a half-century for Sudurpachim Royals. He scored 69 runs out of 43 balls. He smashed 8 boundaries and 2 sixes.

Binod Bhandari contributed 41, Harmeet Singh 14, Brandon McMullen 14, and Scott Kuggeleijn 13 runs for the team. The rest of the players failed to score two-digit numbers.

Mohammad Mohsin and Kishor Mahato took 3–3 wickets for the Janakpur Bolts. Lalit Rajbanshi and James Neesham took 1 wicket each for Janakpur Bolts.

Along with the title, Janakpur has also won the cash prize of 11 million rupees. Sudurpachim received 5.1 million rupees.

Second-runner-up Karnali Yaks have received 2.5 million rupees. The fourth team Chitwan Rhinos will receive 1.5 million rupees.
