NBL’s then Deputy Manager Shrestha arrested after 13 years

Kathmandu: A police team mobilized by the District Police Range Kathmandu has arrested Nepal Bank Limited (NBL)’s then Deputy Manager Sashi Kiran Shrestha on corruption charges.

Range spokesman, Superintendent of Police Nawaraj Adhikari said Shrestha was arrested from Swoyambhu on Sunday, as he was convicted in a case of corruption.  ‘Our team arrested him for implementation of the court verdict as he has been convicted in a corruption case,’ said SP Adhikari.’

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a case against Shrestha. He was on the run for 13 years since the filing of a case against him. CIAA charged him with causing a loss of Rs 398 million 900 thousand while releasing loans at that time by abusing his authority.

Spokesperson Adhikari said that Shrestha would be produced before the court tomorrow for executing the court’s decision against him.
