Lumbini Lions clinch first victory in NPL; Rohit’s all-round performance

Kathmandu: Lumbini Lions have clinched their first victory in the Nepal Premier League (NPL).

Lumbini Lions defeated Chitwan Rhinos by 33 runs at  T.U. International Cricket Ground on Tuesday. This is the second defeat of Chitwan Rhinos in the tournament.

Lumbini’s Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel played an all-round performance for the first victory. Rohit contributed 80 runs and took 4 wickets for Lumbini in the match.

Chitwan Rhinos failed to chase the target of 168 runs. The team scored only 134 runs losing 8 wickets in 20 overs.

Luc Benkenstein scored 31 runs for the Chitwan Rhinos. Captain Kushal Malla contributed 20 runs and debutant Nar Sarki was unbeaten at 22 runs.

Captain Rohit Paudel took 4 wickets for the Lumbini Lions. Ramon Simmonds took 2 wickets, and Saad Bin Zafar and Abhishesh Gautam took 1 wicket each for the team.

In the first innings, Lumbini Lions scored 167 runs in 20 overs, losing 6 wickets.

Captain Rohit Paudel scored a half-century for the Lumbini Lions. He scored 80 runs out of 57 balls and smashed 6 boundaries and 5 sixes.

Saad Bin Zafar also scored a half-century. He scored 52 runs out of 35 balls. He smashed 4 fours and 1 six for the team.

Rijan Dhakal took 3 wickets for the Chitwan Rhinos. Captain Kushal Malla and Ranjit Kumar took 1-1 wicket for the team.

Now, Pokhara Avengers and Karnali Yaks will compete in the next match.
