Postpartum mother airlifted from Humla

Kathmandu: A postpartum mother with an infant of 20 days was rescued from Adanchuli rural municipality of Humla yesterday.

According to the chief of the Health Service Office, Dr. Patikshya Bharati, Jhupa Chhatyal (20 years old) from Karagai village of Adanchuli-5 was airlifted to Surkhet Hospital after the treatment for postpartum hemorrhage was not possible at a local health facility.

Chhatyal fainted after excessive bleeding. Although she was rushed to a local health post for treatment, it was not possible due to constraints of the medical workforce and types of equipment.

So, coordination was made with the stakeholders to rescue her from a life-threatening condition.

The President Women Upliftment Programme has been rescuing needy women as pregnant and postpartum women from remote districts of Karnali including Humla.
