Koshi’s Former Minister Adhikari brought to Kathmandu (Photo Feature)

Kathmandu: Koshi Province former Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Lila Ballav Adhikari, who was arrested from Biratnagar, has been brought to Kathmandu.

After obtaining permission from the court, Adhikari, who is accused of human trafficking, was arrested and brought to Kathmandu from Biratnagar Airport at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Likewise, Adhikari is accused of producing fake documents to facilitate the travel of three people Dawa Sherpa (36-year-old), Janak Rai, from Khotang, and Kanchan Devkota (22), from Rasuwa to Japan, accompanying him. The four, including Adhikari, were deported from Tokyo Airport on October 30.

According to Nawaraj Adhikari, the Spokesperson, and Superintendent of Police at the District Police Range in Kathmandu, procedures are underway to bring the suspect to Kathmandu from Morang. Adhikari is also alleged to have received Rs. 1 million each from the three individuals in exchange for illegally facilitating their travel to Japan.

The District Police Office in Morang confirmed his arrest. CPN (UML) Central Secretariat endorsed the decision of the party’s Koshi Province chapter to expel Adhikari from the party, even by annulling his general membership on Saturday.
