2 dead after car plunges into Sarlahi’s pond

Police retrieved the bodies of Suresh Mahato (38 years old) of Gaushala Municipality-10 and Rama Kant Thakur (37) of Sonma Rural Municipality-8- 8 from the pond on Tuesday.

Janakpurdham: 2 people, who went missing after a car plunged into the pond at Sarlahi, have been found dead.

Police retrieved the bodies of Suresh Mahato (38 years old) of Gaushala Municipality-10 and Rama Kant Thakur (37) of Sonma Rural Municipality-8- 8 from the pond on Tuesday.

A car( Lu 2 Cha 6758) was heading to Gaushala, Mahottari from Bayalbas, Sarlahi, got out of control and plunged into a pond in Miyakhor, Ishwarpur Municipality-2 in Sarlahi on Tuesday, resulting in the missing of 2 people.

According to the District Police Station, Sarlahi Spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police another person inside the car Deepak Shrestha, Janak Yadav (31) of Gaushala-2, Mahottatri managed to swim and save his life.

Spokesperson DSP Shrestha said that after the search and rescue police team could not find the missing people, a diving team was called from Armed Police Force Nepal No 2, Chinnamasta Bahini in Bardibas. The team found the dead bodies.

Likewise, locals said the car went out of control and plunged into the pond of Saraswati Highway Secondary School on the side of the road.  Police said an investigation regarding the accident is ongoing.
