Nepal Sambat 1145 Celebration, Nhu: Daya: Bhintuna (Photo Feature)

Kathmandu: Nepal Sambat 1145 has begun from today. It is believed Nepal Sambat started from 937 B.S.

The Newari community welcomes Nepal Sambat on a grand scale. They exchange best wishes saying ‘Nhu: Daya: Bhintuna’ (Happy New Year).

Shankardhar Sakhwa is regarded as the pioneer of Nepal Sambat. Sakhwa had cleared the debts of the farmers. Newari Community started celebrating the contribution of Sakhwa as Nhu: Daya: Bhintuna.

Likewise, the Government of Nepal authenticated Nepal Sambat as National Sambat from 2065 B.S. Nepal Sambat is one of the country’s ancient and cultural identifications.

King Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah gave international recognition to Nepal Sambat by registering Nepal Sambat and Ranjana Font in The United Nations as national identities. Many communities have also declared Ranjana Font as the official font nowadays.
