Cries of flood-victims from Bhumidanda: No water to drink, No food to eat! (Photo Feature)

Kathmandu: A woman was sitting in a pathetic situation. Her eyes were full of tears. She was neither in condition to react nor lament for her loss.

Looking at her damaged house, she said, ‘It’s not easy to taste the survival. We survived but lost everything. We don’t know where to go tomorrow.’

It was not only her house, which was damaged by the recent flood. Both wards 8 and 12 of Panauti Municipality, situated on the bank of the Roshi River of Sundar Basti Bhumidanda, have been highly affected by the flood; triggered by the incessant rainfall from Thursday.

Just like the woman, most of the people lost their land and homes. The stories of the people, who luckily survived the catastrophic flood, are heart-touching. There is no water to drink, and no food to eat.

People have been deprived of food. Even all the crops have been destroyed. The animals have died due to the scarcity of water.

The fields have turned into a barren land. The place, which was green till yesterday, has been turned into a deserted place.

The flood swept away many old houses. The flood swept away locals’ property, animals, food, and clothes. Many tippers and vehicles have also been buried under the sediments and slugs from the flood.

The recent flood has left an unforgettable scar in the memories of the people from the municipalities. The wound might be recovered but the pain might last for long. However, the locals are gathering their strength to write a new chapter of their upcoming phase of life.
