Erika Gurung wins historic silver medal at 20th Senior AKF Karate Championship

Kathmandu: Karate player Erika Gurung has won a historic silver medal at the 20th Senior AKF Karate Championship.

Gurung won a silver medal, after losing against Vietnam’s Ngowan Nguyen in the final of the weight group over 68kg held in China on Sunday.

Earlier, no Nepali Players were able to reach the final of the Senior Karate Championship. Gurung is also the silver medalist in the Asian Games.

Likewise, Erika entered into the final, after winning the 3 bout in the Championship on Friday. She defeated Philippines’s Isabel Brito by 4-0 in the pre-quarterfinal, Kazakhastan’s Sofia Beirut in the Quarterfinal and Thailand’s Kevin Songlin by 7-0 in Semi final match.
