Dissanayake leads in Srilanka’s Presidential Election

Kathmandu: Sri Lanka’s Marxist-leaning leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake has made a lead in the Sri Lanka Presidential election.

After the voting for president ended on Saturday, National People’s Power candidate Dissanayake is in the lead in the ongoing voting count.  According to BBC, postal votes were counted, and after the counting of postal votes, the counting of ballot boxes is going on.

Dissanayake got 47% votes of the total vote counted on Sunday. The opposition party leader Sajith Premadasa got 28% votes and President Ranil Wickremesinghe got 15% votes.

Likewise, to be elected as President it needed to secure 51% votes.
