Mother poisons 2 daughters after repeated tourture from husband

Kathmandu: Police have arrested a mother in the case related to 2 minors, being found dead, in Morang.

District Police Office, Morang arrested the mother Ashmita Karki (29 years old), and made her public on Wednesday.

Arpan Karki (1 year old) and Ayika Karki (3 years old) were found dead inside a banana farm, situated in Sundarharaicha Municipality- 7, on Saturday. According to Morang’s SP Nawaraj Karki, they arrested Karki from Biratamod, Jhapa on Wednesday; 5 days after the incident.

Ashmita, in her statement, said that because of her husband’s torture, she poisoned her daughters, and ran away. She confessed to the Police that her husband used to threaten to murder her daily.

‘At first, I drank the poison, and my chest began to burn. If I die, my daughters will be in the jungle, instead, I decided to take them with me and therefore I  also fed them the poison,’ said Karki.

Police said that Ashmita was taken to Koshi Hospital, Biratnagar for treatment after she was found unwell at Birtamod Road. She was made public after normal treatment.

Ashmita had a dispute with her husband on Friday. After that, she left the house and took her daughters with her. But, both daughters were found dead at the banana farm. However, their mother was not found. The box of pesticide ‘Metacit’ was found at the place, where minors were found dead.

Arjun was residing in his sister Sita Regmi’s house, with his wife and 2 daughters, at Sundarharaicha Municipality- 7.

SP Karki said an investigation is going on in the case.
