Landslide blocks Gokuleshwar-Khalanga section of Mahakali highway

Kathmandu: Vehicular movement on the Gokuleshwar-Khalanga section of the Mahakali highway has been disrupted, due to a dry landslide at Melkhet Dhamigada of Malikarjun rural municipality-8.

The road section was blocked by the deposition of landslide debris at various locations on the road section on Wednesday. Vehicles entering and exiting the district have been stranded due to the disruption of the road section.

Although an excavator of the Division Road Office Baitadi Patan has been pressed into service for removing the landslide debris since the morning, large boulders that fell onto the road along with the landslide could not be removed.

Supervisor at the Office Ganesh Bohara said an excavator for breaking the boulders has been called and the road section would be opened only after the boulders are broken and removed.
