‘Sorathi’ at Shilpee (Photo Feature)

Kathmandu: The staging of the drama ‘Sorathi’ has begun at Shilpee Theatre Nepal, Battisputali. The drama is based on Sanjay Kaucha Magar’s novel with the same title.

The play revolves around the story of the ups and downs in the life of a Magar princess ‘Sorathi’, who is about to get married to her father mistakenly, and its subsequent events in an exemplary manner.

Kavita Ale Magar, Bishal Pullami, Punam Laxmi Magar, Ramila Moktan, Hemant Lamichhane Magar, Nissom Magar, Arush Magar, Ganga Magar, Ramita Rai, Sunil Rai, Ashmita Budha Magar, Pravin Magar, Man Bahadur Rai, Sangeeta Thulung Rai and Khushi Sunuwar are actors, who have added life to the characters.

The drama has been produced in collaboration with the Kauchaa Creation and Bimba Arts Production.

Yam Lhayo Magar and Pramod Khadka are the producers of the play. The credit for arranging costumes, stage design, and composing the music goes to Sangita Thapa Magar.

Similarly, Ingihopo Kaich Sunuwar has beautifully played with the light to create an attractive ambiance for the stage. Mani K Rai is the choreographer of the play.

Likewise, Sanjay Kaucha Magar has written the drama. Sangita Thapa Magar directed the drama. Sanjay Kaucha Magar has portrayed the reality of the ‘Sorathi’ dance, which is popular among the Magar community.

The drama will be staged every day at 5:30 a.m. except on Tuesday. There is also an additional show on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. The staging of the drama began on 23 August (Bhadra 7) and will conclude on 15 September (Bhadra 30).
